The talk about Darrelle Revis being traded keeps gaining momentum as we get closer to NFL teams opening up business for the upcoming FA season, and the Jets are now in "Serious" talks with 4 teams who are willing to trade for the #1 Cornerback in the league (When healthy) so which team is actually in the lead? Lets break it down...

  • SF 49ers made two different offers to the Jets which is based around their #1 pick + late 2ndRd pick.. New offer from SF is expected within the next week as rumors of a new "Mystery Team" becoming involved in talks. It seems right now the Jets feel like they can get more from 49ers so the game of chicken between both teams will probably keep going through the next 2 weeks...

  • Broncos have been by far the most aggressive team early in this Revis push. Elway made an offer last week (1st + 3rd) and wants this to go down quickly, Jets for obvious reasons want a more prolonged scenario where they can have multiple teams competing against each other in some form of a "Revis" bidding war. Broncos are the only team to have requested updated medical reports from Jets about Darrelle's repaired knee. Denver wants a quick resolution one way or another, and the word is if the Jets are not willing to act quickly, Denver will shore up the CB position via FA...

  • Saints have been real quiet about pursuing Mr. Lockdown (Revis) but the interest is real especially with New Orleans having a certain "D-Coordinator" who has the last name Ryan.. Only thing that seems to be holding up any deal between the two teams is the issue of the offer, Saints want to give the Jets a player on the roster (Rumors say Ingram) and a mid-rd pick --- Jets have no interest in that type of offer at this time.

  • Here is the huge development that has happened in the past 24hours with this Revis chase, IBN has information that an NFC "Mystery Team" has made what a source has termed "a very substantial offer".. Jets GM Idzik will most likely try to use this new NFC team as possible leverage to get more from 49ers. Early rumors are the "Mystery Team" could be one of the following - Falcons - Buccaneers - Eagles ' we will see soon.

Closing thought : Seems new Jets GM (Idzik) wants an all out bidding war and he may possibly be setting up 3 or 4 teams to start bidding against themselves, which would be a smart move on his part but can also be very dangerous as that can backfire quickly. Teams want to make moves at a fast pace, especially with free agency kicking off soon (March 12th) and the pressure will be on Idzik to get the best deal but if he waits and teams like Niners/Broncos move on, shore up secondary via free agency, Idzik may be left with egg splattered all over his face.

The Jets are crazy if they only accept something like a 1st rounder and a late 2nd or 3rd. I still think a 1st, late 2nd and a 3rd plus a roster ready player.....that's just me, Revis will definitely recover fine and he may come out even better especially if he lands somewhere with promise. Plus if he's going to make between $14-$16 mil per then the Jets need full value in that and 2 OK draft picks is not proper compensation or value.

Colin Kaepernick
There's a beautiful thing about the NFL that most of you have already seen : On any given Sunday, there's always someone on the field or on the sidelines who finds a way to show his true donkeyfy-ing nature. Last week, it was Chargers HC McCoy and his poor game plan against the Broncos.

This week was even bigger. 4 teams were still standing. The Broncos whooped the Patriots in a game that wasn't as close as the score indicates in the AFC championship. But the main event was something you didn't want to miss. Seahawks and Niners, one of the best (if not the best) rivalries in today's NFL. Hard hits, trash talking and a game that went down to the wire but, sadly for Niners fans, San Fran' ultimately lost. And our Donkey, 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick was the biggest factor.

Jimmy Johnson said it best, Colin Kaepernick kept the Niners in the game with his feet and killed them with his arm. Two late INTs and a Fumble in the fourth quarter. A game to forget for the former Nevada product who played the 1st 3 quarters like he was the second coming of Steve Young. A game that should lead to a lot of questions in the Niners front office and, of course, a game that prevented them from making back to back Superbowl appearances. But let us ask the question that needs to be asked : How could Kaepernick choke that badly? Getting strip sacked by a defense you were running all over in the first half (Ok that can happen to any QB) The absolutely awful throw right to Kam Chancellor (That mistake can't happen!) And the game ending interception, on another bad throw vs the opponents best player? How? I mean ... No one should expect our Donkey to be Joe Montana but some things should have been avoided. SF was leading 17-13 at the start of the 4th quarter and until that final turnover, they were still very much poised to get a huge road win. Why force a throw on a 1st and 10 with still 30 seconds left? So many questions to ask, but only one conclusion : Colin Kaepernick choked. Badly.

And the Niners will watch the Superbowl on TV. But rejoice Colin, this gives you more time to model for magazines and add to your sneaker collection... but we'll just see you as our Donkey of the Day!
