The season might be young but the NFL is ruthless. And some good ol' coaching faces are lurking ...

Amongst those people is Bill Cowher and no, he is not planning to return to Pittsburgh.

IBN has learned from sources that the former Steelers head coach has told WFAN's "Boomer Esiason" that he wants the NY Giants job if current head coach Tom Coughlin retires or is let go. Also the source indicates, Cowher would be highly interested in the Buccaneers and Panthers if the Giants job is not open after the year is over...  Our source also indicates :

"Bill [Cowher] wants to be back in the league , he thinks next year 2-3 NFL jobs will open up, that possibly could be a great fit"

The Giants are starting the season 0-5 after being defeated by NFC East-rival Philadelphia and there's no doubt that despite winning 2 Superbowls in the last 6 seasons, Tom Coughlin might be on a hot seat. Is Cowher a great fit for the Giants? Should Coughlin be fired at the end of the season if the G-Man don't bounce back?

The Panthers & Bucs have obvious situations where the coaches are on a very hot seat (Rivera ' Schiano) so those two spots look likely to be open.

More details when available.
