Fantasy Playoffs

This may have been the hardest week to predict what will happen... Go Fun!

Neither snow nor wind nor rain shall stop me. This isn't the USPS, it’s the Packers and Seahawks. They’re calling for Lambeau weather. Let me rephrase that… the weatherman in Green Bay said this might be the worst weather for a Packers home game in nearly 30 years.

This week is full of important games, one of them hopefully is your fantasy playoff matchup. If you didn’t make the playoffs and are still reading, thanks! If you made the playoffs, you're probably skipping the writing part and going right to the rankings. Who has time to read words that don’t have names attached to them anymore?

This will be a good week for dome teams. Think Saints/Bucs and Texans/Colts. Those games should provide high scoring fantasy players. I honestly have no idea how the weather will affect the Packers/Seahawks. My guess is very much so and this weeks rankings will reflect that. On a normal day, Wilson and Rodgers would both be top-5 QBs, but this week they both fall. Will Rawls and Michael/Starks pound all game? Will defenses and special teams make the difference? Will the weatherman be wrong? I live in Ohio, and we employ weathermen who are right about 20% of the time.

This season has seen some amazing performances. Andrew Luck in Week 1, Julio Jones Week 4 and Zeek in Week 10. Great performances still await us. The actual playoff races are so tight in both divisions that almost every game this weekend has some sort of playoff implications. Someone unexpected will be a breakout star each week. We see that all the time. Raise your hand if you had Ladarius Green exploding last week? No one? Ok, great, let's move on. Whether you play in a 10 team league and have to chose between Legarrette Blount, Doug Martin or Brandon Marshall; or a 16 team league and choose between Ted Ginn Jr. and Dontrelle Inman, fantasy football is fun. Which star will shine or which player will have himself a day on Sunday?

This is going to be a strange week. I see some very high scores by some studs and some nobodies. I see plenty of busts and decoys too. Brandon Marshall should be able to torch the 49ers. I am not confident Bryce Petty can find him. Which kicker is going to have five field goals? Can Mike Evans outshine Julio Jones and his gimpy ankle? Who is going to be that guy no one started who scores three TD’s and you blame the “talking heads” for not projecting them higher and caused you to lose. Please remember, you hit the submit button on your lineup, not ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS, or IBN. YOU! It’s not my fault Derek Carr had 117 yards and 0 TD’s Thursday, but I bet if he was on your team, you started him. The numbers were there, they said to do it! They even made a TV show about Numbers Never Lie….  boy were they wrong!

Every week I have streamed a DST and I have been wrong once and made a bad decision one other week. All other weeks I have had a top 10 DST. This week I am streaming the Packers. This is strictly weather based. It also depends what your league settings are for points. I think a lot of games will be high scoring this week, this game will not be one of them. There may not be a DST TD, but I believe the game will be low scoring and full of turnovers. It’s a wildcard streamer and the least confident of any pick I’ve had all year, but the numbers are there, and they never lie….right???

I lost a close friend to cancer this week. Hug your children, help your neighbor, be kind to each other. My buddy was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met and he will be sorely missed. “If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special."-Jim Valvano

Enjoy your Sunday. Good luck!
