Here are the Fantasy Hockey Roundups for this week including the Major Trades:

1. Travis Hamonic to the Calgary Flames:

NHL TRADE:

New York Islanders trade:

• Travis Hamonic

• Cond. 4th Rd

Calgary Flames for:

• 2018 1st Rd

• 2018 2nd Rd

• Cond. 2nd Rd

Basically this trade solidified the Calgary Flames Defense. The New York Islanders had about $9M in cap space and about half a dozen defenseman signed and NHL ready, this meant Travis Hamonic was available to be traded. While he was a big part of the Islanders, and had a major role in the dressing room it was for the best. Hamonic was linked to the Oilers a couple years ago after having family issues and wanting to move closer to home. This deal does bring him back to Canada.

For the New York Islanders they got a couple of 2nd Rounders and a 1st. Now time will tell if that was worth it or not but for now it's seems like a fair deal as on average one or two of those players drafted will play in the NHL.

For the Calgary Flames they are getting a shutdown Top 4 defenseman who recently won the NHL Foundation Player award in Las Vegas. He completed the Flames top 4 defense with Mark Giordano, Dougie Hamilton, and T.J Brodie. These guys are stacked and they are making it a tough decision to say who has the best defense in the league now. Nashville fans should be scared. Hamonic is mainly a defensive defenseman, he has offensive upside but he's not know to score big goals. He had 14 points in 49 games last season, so only take him on your Fantasy team if your league counts a minus rating as a positive because he was a -21 too. I'd avoid him for DFS.

2. Pominville to Sabres, Ennis to Wild

NHL TRADE:

Buffalo Sabres trade:

• Tyler Ennis

• Marcus Foligno

• 3rd Rd

Minnesota Wild for:

• Marco Scandella

• Jason Pominville

• 4th Rd

This trade was clearly done to make space on the backend for the Minnesota Wild. They have a surplus of defenseman and need some room for salary and other needs. It was rumored the odd man out may be Scandella, Dumba, or maybe even Brodin but only one really panned out. They also moved Pominville who hasn't contributed as much as the Wild would've liked him to. Now they got Tyler Ennis who is a great player in my mind if he wasn't injury prone and Marcus Foligno a real strong physical guy who can move up and down your lineup. Ennis had 46 points in 76 games just a couple seasons ago. No reason why he can't hit the 50 point plateau next year alongside a guy like Koivu.

The Buffalo Sabres received a wonderful asset in Marco Scandella, he's a real offensive defenseman who may not put up huge numbers but can really contribute in a top 4 environment. He's big, physical and has one heck of a shot. Marco can generally reach the 20 pts plateau in a injury season. He also has a $3M contract so not to shabby. Jason Pominville was once a Buffalo Sabres. Apart of the great team the Sabres once had. This guy had 80 pts in 2007-08. He still contributes getting around 40 pts. He used to play alongside Derek Roy, Daniel Briere etc. He knows how to play in Buffalo and i'm sure he misses it. Maybe he won't get 60 pts, but I wouldn't be surprised if he puts up 50 pts playing with Jack Eichel. He's still got some speed so don't sleep on him.

3. Fredrik Andersen: I cannot stress how much I loved the Leafs play last season. I can't see them taking a step back and now that Andersen proved his #1 capabilities he will get the majority of the starts and I predict many wins to go along with that.
